Wellness app providing companionship for those in need.

Paws for Patients is a new mobile app that helps therapy animal handlers navigate hospitals easily, allowing them to visit patients who request time with a therapy animal.

Working closely with the Founder/Developer I currently am in the process of rolling out the MVP version of the app.

THE CHALLENGE

As a first of its kind app how might we provide and easy to use experience that allows volunteers to visit patients and gives hospital admins easy access to communicating with volunteers.

As a first of its kind app how might we provide and easy to use experience that allows volunteers to visit patients and gives hospital admins easy access to communicating with volunteers.

Therapy animal volunteers devote their time to providing patients with animal companionship. Without guidance, they search the hospital for patients interested in their service, making the process lengthy and chaotic. Hospital admins feel the same way and need a simple way to communicate with volunteers.

RESEARCH

Gaining valuable insights through brainstorming sessions and a lot of (virtual) sticky notes.

Gaining valuable insights through brainstorming sessions and a lot of (virtual) sticky notes.

The founder of PAWS is a therapy animal volunteer and a developer. With his knowledge and involvement in the therapy animal handler community, I ran brainstorming sessions that allowed us to identify key pain points, possible user flows, and reveal key insights for us to leverage.

WIREFRAMING

Exploring potential solutions, vetting ideas with stakeholders, and agreeing on a promising direction through low-fidelity prototypes.

To validate the user flow and the solutions for pain points that we discovered during brainstorming, I created a simple prototype that would visually communicate the ideas we had during brainstorming.

WAG: A DESIGN SYSTEM

Creating a single source of truth for design and engineering that is built to scale.

Creating a single source of truth for design and engineering that is built to scale.

Starting from scratch, I had the chance to create a completely scalable design system that served as the definitive guide for design and engineering. Constructed to be scalable, it perfectly positions PAWS and the design system for growth.

RESULTS

While we are still developing the MVP, hospitals have responded positively to the app presentation. Initially designed for one hospital, now more hospitals are showing interest and want to register.
